About Millvina Dean
The British civil servant, Eliza Gladys Millvina Dean, affectionately called Millvina Dean, was the youngest and the last survivor of the biggest tragedy in history, which took place during the early 20th century – she survived the ship that sank, Titanic.
Background and Early Life
She was born in London, England. She was two months old when the Titanic ship sank. Her education was sponsored with the funds given to the Titanic survivors by charity organizations.
Personal Life
Her parents were Bertram Frank Dean, and Georgette Eva Light. She had a brother called Bertram Vere Dean. She was never married nor had any children. During World War II, she drew maps for the British government. She later moved to a Southampton engineering firm where she worked in the purchasing department. In 1972, she retired.
She has taken part in several documentaries, television and radio interviews, and exhibitions including a “Titanic convention” in 1998 and 1999 at Springfield and Montreal, respectively. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, a respiratory disease. She died at the age of 97.
