About Misty May-Treanor
Misty May-Treanor is one of the most successful volleyball players in the women’s division. Together with Kerri Walsh Jennings, the American has won three gold medals at the Olympic Games. In 2007, the team recorded their third FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships success. She retired with more than 110 victories in international and local championships.
She started playing volleyball during her time in high school, but diverted to the beach version in 1999 after a short spell with the U.S. female volleyball team. She partnered Holly McPeak and played her first tournament later that year.
Family
She was born into a family with a rich history in sports. Her mum Barbara Grubb played tennis while her dad Butch May is a retired volleyball star.
She tied the knot with baseball legend Matt Treanor in 2004. They gave birth to a set of twins in 2017 called Mia Kanoelani and Mele Elizarin. They had their first child three years before that whom they named Malia Barbara.
Education
She played volleyball at Newport Harbor High School and continued at California State University, Long Beach before joining the national team.
Honors
Her name has been included in many Halls of Fame including International Volleyball Hall of Fame, and Southern California Indoor Hall of Fame.
