Early Life
Yao was born in California to a Chinese father who migrated from China in the 1960s. She graduated from Malibu High School in 2015 and she started modeling where she contested in numerous beauty contests like the 2016 Miss Malibu Teen contest.
Life with Malik Beasley
Yao met NBA player Beasley in 2018; by the end of 2019, they had a son Makai Joseph Beasley. In 2020, the couple tied the knot in a private and intimidating ceremony. By November 2020, pictures surfaced online of Beasley and model Larsa Pippen walking arms locked together in Miami. The pictures triggered outrage online from his fans and caused Yao to file for divorce.
However, Beasley made a public apology to his wife via his Instagram account which his wife accepted. In August 2022 the divorce was dismissed from the court and the reconciled couple welcomed a baby girl Mia Love Beasley in November 2022.
