About Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa was a Macedonian-Indian missionary and the Mother General of the Missionaries of Charity.
She founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation, in 1950. As of 2012, it consisted of over 4,500 sisters and is currently active in more than 130 countries all over the world. The sisters help people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis. The Vatican recognised the healing of a tumor of an Indian woman as a miracle, after the application of a locket containing her picture in 2002. A second miracle is required, so that she can be recognised as a saint. In 1979, she won the Nobel Peace Prize.

She was of Albanian descent. She was born in Skopje in 1910 and she lived most of her life in India.
