Early Life
Munir was born in Melilla, Spain to Moroccan parents. He attended Goyu Ryu youth academy. He went on to the AD Ceuta reserves team in 2008, and a year later he moved to Almería B.
Career
Munir was released from Almería B and joined UD Melilla in 2009. He was on the reserve team for a year and joined the senior team in 2010. He signed a two-year deal with CD Numancia in 2014 and made his debut playing against CD Leganés. He played his first full 90 minutes of a game against UD Las Palmas.
In June 2022, Munir eventually moved to the Saudi Arabian club Al Wehda FC. He moved to play for his ancestral home in 2014 when legendary African goalkeeper Ezzaki Badou invited him to the Moroccan national team.
In November 2022, he was named a substitute goalkeeper for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. During the lineup with Belgium, starter goalkeeper Yassine Bounou suddenly took ill and was replaced by Munir within a few minutes. Munir was instrumental in Morocco’s 2-1 win over Belgium at Doha. With over 1 million Instagram followers, he has received overwhelming support from his fans.
