About Muriel Pavlow
English actress Muriel began her career in the 1930s as a child performer with English filmmaker and actor John Gielgud and the Royal Shakespeare Company. She is well known for roles in films such as “Doctor in the House”, “Sing As We Go” and “Murder, She said”. In the latter, which was released in 1961, she starred alongside Margaret Rutherford and Arthur Kennedy.
Family
She was the daughter of Boris Pavlov and his wife Germaine. Her marriage to English actor Derek Farr ended in 1986 after his death. The couple did not have any children.
Career
She made several appearances in films and television productions. As a young teenager, Pavlow featured in the BBC television broadcast “Hansel and Gretel” in 1937, playing the character of Gretel. That same year, she appeared in the British drama film “A Romance in Flanders”, which starred Garry Marsh and Marcelle Chantal.
She was also cast in “Old Acquaintance”, a John Van Druten’s play in 1941 the West End.
She played the character of Thelma in “Reach for the Sky” which won the BAFTA Award for Best British Film of 1956.

Retirement and Death
She retired from acting in 2006. After being plagued by illness for a while, the actress passed away on January 19, 2019, aged 97.
