About Musiq Soulchild
Musiq Soulchild was one of a generation of R&B musicians that emerged in the 2000s with no ties to the showy, sexually aggressive sounds that had dominated the decade before. Taalib Johnson, a Philadelphia native, was up in a family that instilled in him a love of 1970s soul music. He adapted his musical background to a passion for secular hip-hop and developed his lyrical and affable everyman style through a string of six distinct albums, four of which earned gold or platinum in the United States.
