Mya Harrison is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress who dominated the American music industry during the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2021, she released the hit single, “Worth It”, introducing her alter ego, “Mya Lan$ky.”
Early Years
Mya was born in Washington D.C to a musical family. Her father was a musician. When she was a child, she learned how to play the violin but she was more interested in dance and music. She trained as a ballet dancer and also learned jazz and tap dancing.
Career
Between 1998-1999, Mya released her first album, “Mya” and worked with several artists including Missy Elliot and Dru Hill. The album was successful and three of her songs, including “It’s All About Me” became top-ten hits. In the early 2000s, she released “Fear of Flying” and collaborated with P!nk, Christina Aguilera, and Lil’ Kim to remake the 1975 hit song, “Lady Marmalade.” Between 2003 and 2013, she released other albums including, “Moodring” and “K.I.S.S.”
Harrison has also collaborated with major brands and appeared in a number of films. She starred in “In Too Deep”, “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights”, and “Holiday Twist.”
Awards
Harrison has won several awards throughout her career, including a Screen Actors Guild Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, and a Cross Over Award at the Palm Beach International Film Festival.
