Naina Yeltsina is the former First Lady of Russia and the wife of Russia’s first president, Boris Yeltsin.
Background: Education & Marriage
Yeltsina attended the Ural Polytechnic Institute in 1955 and later worked at the Sverdlovsk Institute. She married Boris in 1956 and the following year, the couple welcomed two daughters Yelena and Tatyana in 1957 and 1960.
First Lady
In 1991, Boris was elected President of Russia, making Yeltsina the First Lady. She lived a quiet life and often accompanied her husband on several international trips. Although she never actively participated in politics, she granted interviews to the Russian media and interacted with voters in the 1996 campaign.
Later Years
Yeltsina published her memoir, “My Life with Boris”, which highlighted her marriage to the President until his death in 2007.
