Family and Education
He was born as Filippo Neviani but performs under the alias Nek. His parents were Cesare and Vittoria Neviani.
He exchanged vows with Patrizia Vacondio in 2006 and they both welcomed a daughter in 2010.
His music career was inspired by singers like John Denver. He joined the Winchester band and performed with them in small clubs. Nek rose to fame after his participation in the Sanremo Music Festival in 1997. Though he didn’t win the contest, the song he performed was his breakthrough to fame. Titled "In te", the song became one of the most listened to songs in Europe and Latin America.
His first record label was Fonit Cetra of which he recorded his first and second album with. They include “Nek” in 1992 and “In te” in 1993. He later signed with Warner Music Group which has been his record label till date as of 2022.
Nek produced other albums like “In due”, “Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto”, Le cos de difendere” and “Filippo Neviani”. The latter which is his eleventh album and was released in 2013. He also released hit songs such as “Figli di chi”, “Sei grande” and “Lascia che io sia”. The latter hit number two on the charts and it became one of the top ten selling singles in Italy.
As of 2021, he has released thirteen albums and close to forty-eight singles.
He performed in places like the Reverton Festival, which was in honor of Latin America Music in Los Angeles. He also performed in Rome at the “Football of Peace” concert.
He was the recipient of an IFPI Award for his album “Lei gli amici e tutto il resto”. His ninth album “Nella Stanza 26” received Poesia del Rock Award.
Nek served as the coach for the show Amici di Maria de Filippi in 2016.
