About Nicky Butt
A member of the famous ‘Class of ‘92’, Nicky Butt began his soccer career with the youth team of English side, Manchester United. He was promoted to the senior side in 1992 alongside some top talents like Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, and David Beckham.
Mostly used as a midfielder, the English soccer legend spent 12 seasons with Manchester United in which he won six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League in 1999.
After leaving the club in 2004, he joined another English team called Newcastle United. He was in the books of the team for six years and helped them to win an UEFA Intertoto Cup, and Football League Championship.
International career
Known for robustness and intelligence, Butt began his international career with England’s U18 side. He played for their other junior teams before making his senior appearance in 1997. With the Three Lions, he played in some major tournaments like the FIFA World Cup.
Coaching career
After hanging his boots, he went back to Manchester United to work as a reserve team coach. In 2016, he was named the head of the team’s academy setup. He assisted Ryan Giggs during his time as the interim manager of Manchester United.
Family
In 2008, he became the husband of Shelley Barlow.
Fun Facts
He was grabbed by law enforcers in 2019 for an alleged domestic violence act.
In 2014, he together with former teammates Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, and Ryan Giggs bought an English soccer team called Salford City.
