Nicola Sacco Rank
About Nicola Sacco
Nicola Sacco was an Italian-American anarchist, who along with fellow anarchist Bartolomeo Vanzetti, became known in the United States and abroad after being charged with the murder of a guard and a paymaster while robbing a shoe factory in 1920. The pair was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to death. Despite the fact that many across the world protested against the men's conviction as they felt the trial was unfair and that the men were convicted because of their radical beliefs and not because of the crime they had been charged with, they were both executed by the electric chair in 1927.
Trivia
In 1977, fifty years after Sacco's execution, the Governor of Massachusetts Michael Dukakis stated that he and Vanzetti had been tried in an unfair manner.
