About Nigel Havers
Nigel Havers is a British actor, a television presenter, and a raconteur. His first acting role came in BBC radio’s first series, “Mrs. Dale’s Diary.” He later joined the “Prospect Theater Company.”
Havers is popularly known in the acting world as one of the best for playing an archaic Englishman with a charming and dashing character. Some of his popular movie roles include “Dr. Rawlins” in “Empire of the Sun,” “Ronny” in “A passage to India,” and “Lord Andrew Lindsay” in “Chariots of Fire.”
Personal Life
Havers is a native of Edmonton, Middlesex. However, unlike most of his relatives who went to high school at Eton, he attended London’s Arts Educational School for his high school education – a decision he took because he was afraid of the fagging tradition in Eton.
He was married to Hugh Williams (daughter of veteran actor Hugh Williams) from 1989 until she sadly passed away in June 2004. He later married Georgiana “George” Bronfman in June 2007.
Controversies
He has confessed to cheating on multiple occasions during his first marriage. He described it as one of his main lifetime regrets. He got about £375,000 from a court suit he filed claiming that his wife died and left him a little financial provision.
Trivia
British comedian Jack Whitehall is his godson.
