About Nigel Kennedy
Nigel Kennedy started making a name for himself at the age of 22 years as a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The English violinist joined the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which was then led by Sir Thomas Beecham.
He shot to fame in 1968 when he collaborated with Stéphane Grappelli, a famous violinist, at the Carnegie Hall in New York. In 1984, he recorded his first work which was a remake of the “Violin Concerto” by Edward Elgar. His other popular work is 2010’s “Riders on the Storm: The Doors Concerto”.
In 2013, he released perhaps his most popular album titled “Recital”.
Family
His grandparents Lauri Kennedy and Dorothy Kennedy were also into music. His father John Kennedy was also a celebrated cellist. He has been married to a lady called Agnieszka. Prior to their union, he had a son called Sark from his previous relationship.
Education
He was trained at the Royal Academy of Music. Kennedy also studied at Yehudi Menuhin School of Music and New York City’s Juilliard School.
Achievements
This celebrity won the “Outstanding Contribution to British Music” prize at the 1997 BRIT Awards. Four years later, he was named the “Male Artist of the Year” at the same event.
Trivia
In 1991, he published his autobiography titled “Always Playing”.
He has worked alongside some celebrated musicians like Stephen Duffy and Jaz Coleman.
