About Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov
He was a famous Russian composer, and a key member of the 19th-century group known as The Five, which includes César Cui, Mily Balakirev, Modest Mussorgsky and Alexander Borodin.
He was known to be a master orchestrator, and was also celebrated for composing "Russian Easter Festival Overture" and "Capriccio Espagnol".
Nikolai went ahead to solidify his legacy by teaching over 250 future musical icons including Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov, Ottorino Respighi, Mykola Lysenko, and Alexander Spendiaryan.
Family Life
Nikolai's parents are Andrei Rimsky-Korsakov and Sofia Vassilievna Skaryatina. His older brother is navigator and geographer, Voin Rimsky-Korsakov.
He was married to pianist Nadezhda Rimskaya-Korsakova from 1872 till 1908. His children are Maria, Nadezda, Sofia, Mikhail, Andrey, Vladimir and Sviatoslav Rimsky-Korsakov.
Trivia
He studied at the School for Mathematical and Navigational Sciences in Saint Petersburg in 1862.
Some of his songs were titled "Butterfly" (1855), "Come out to me, signora" (1861) and "In the blood burns the fire of desire" (1865).
