About Nilmar
Nilmar, whose full name is Nilmar Honorato da Silva, is a famous Brazilian soccer star who mostly played as a striker. Known for his eye for goals and outstanding skills, Nilmar played his first professional game in 2002 as a member of the Internacional team in his home country.
After some eye-catching performances, he joined French side Olympique Lyonnais in 2004 and helped them to win the Ligue 1 trophy the following year. Aside from that, he has played for other well-known soccer sides including Villarreal, Corinthians, and Al-Nasr.
International career
After impressing at club level, Nilmar was named in the Brazilian squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2003. He went on to make 24 appearances for his country, netting 9 goals. With the team, he participated in many tournaments including the FIFA World Cup, and the FIFA Confederations Cup, which he won in 2009.
Personal Life
In 2009, he became the husband of Laura Guimaraes.
Achievements
He was the top scorer in the Copa Sudamericana competition in 2008.
