Obba Babatunde is the adopted name of American actor, director, producer and singer, Donald Cohen. He began appearing in small theatre productions following his high school graduation in 1969.
By 1978, he had made his first appearance on Broadway. His notable on-screen appearances include Julius Avant in “The Bold and the Beautiful”, Willie in the film, “Life” and Charles Thorne in “Half & Half”.
As a producer and director, he has worked on productions such as “Oscar’s Black Odyssey” and “American Bad Boy”.

He was raised in Jamaica, Queens, New York City. He has a brother called Akin. He chose the name Obba Babatunde after discovering his Nigerian ancestry.

He has been honored by the Daytime Emmy Awards and NAACP Image Awards among others.
