About Ollie Halsall
Peter John Halsall, popularly referred to as Ollie Halsall was an English musician, songwriter and singer who mainly performed with rock bands as a guitarist. He spent significant periods of his career with the bands Rutles, Boxer, Patto and Timebox.
He was also famous for being one of the few rock musicians to play a vibraphone. As a solo act, he released two projects: “Caves” and “Abbot’s Langley”.
Family Life
He was raised in Southport, England.
Instruments and Influence
Besides the guitar and vibraphone, he also knew how to play keyboards, drums and bass guitar. The likes of Andy Partridge, Alvin Lee, Rick Nielsen and Bill Nelson have named him as a musical influence.
Death
He died in Calle de la Amargura, Spain, on May 29, 1992, following a heart attack which was caused by drugs.
