Orson Welles was an American actor and filmmaker who first gained recognition for his works in theatre which included the acclaimed Macbeth (1936) and Caesar (1937), adaptations from two of William Shakespeare’s most recognizable plays. Orson also forayed into radio, where he was notoriously known for his narration of the radio drama “The War of the Worlds” that caused panic among listeners believing the events was actually happening.
Film Career
Welles is most famous for his film debut Citizen Kane (1941), regarded as one of the best films ever made, where he starred as the titular character and also served as the director. His other critically acclaimed films include The Magnificent Ambersons (1942), Touch of Evil (1958), and Chimes at Midnight (1965).
