German industrialist, spy, and Nazi Party Member who saved over a thousand Jews during the Holocaust.
His Story
After working in several fields, Schindler joined the intelligence agency of the Nazi Party called Abwehr. He was a spy in Czech territory in 1939 before World War II began. This same year, he gained ownership of a factory in Poland. He employed Jews at this factory, which is said to have saved 1,200 of them. He was only allowed to this because he had connections with the Abwehr and because he bribed Nazi officials. Since the end of the war, Schindler has been considered a hero.
