About Otis Williams
Otis Williams is one of the founders of the music group known as The Temptations, which was very popular in the 1960s and 70s. The group, which mostly performed under the Motown Records, completed lots of musical projects including their first studio album entitled “Meet the Temptations”.
In 1988, he, with the help of Patricia Romanowski, published a book title “Temptations”, which centers on the history of the group, as well as, his biography.
Family
He was born as Otis Miles Jr., and was named after his mum, Otis Miles. His father, Hazel Louise Williams, divorced his mum when he was very young. In view of this, he had to spend most of his childhood days with his grandmother.
Marriages & Children
In 1961, he got married to a lady called Josephine Rogers. That same year, they announced the arrival of their first son called Otis Lamont. After three years of marriage, the couple went their separate ways. He later married Arleata "Goldie" Williams in 1983, after two unsuccessful relationships. His other children are called, Elan Carter and Otis Williams III.
Achievements
As a member of the group, he was added to the ‘The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’ in 1989.
Trivia
He’s the longest-serving founding member of the group.
He has performed alongside some prominent singers including David Ruffin, Damon Harris, and Ron Tyson.
