About Pamela Brown
Pamela Mary Brown was a gifted English actress who became successful for her work in films and on stage. Upon graduation from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, she got the opportunity to debut on stage in a production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in 1936.
Brown is hugely remembered for her iconic roles in films such as I Know Where I’m Going, Personal Affair, Richard III, Cleopatra, Becket and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
Family Life
She was married to Peter Copley, also a stage and film actor, from 1941 to 1953. She later started a relationship with Michael Powell, a film director whom she had previously worked with. They lived together until she died in 1975.
Trivia
Although she suffered from an arthritic condition, which made mobility difficult, she did an excellent job in her portrayal of Jennet in the stage play, The Lady’s Not For Burning in the early 1950s.
