About Pat Hingle
His name is Martin Patterson Hingle but he used the pen name Pat Hingle. He was a popular American actor and was known for the multiple television programs he had been in.
Personal Life
When he was in Weslaco High School, he joined the band and played tuba. He started schooling in University of Texas but stopped temporarily to join the United States Navy. In the navy, he was on the destroyer USS Marshall. This was during the Second World War. After the war, he went back to the university and completed his studies with a radio broadcasting degree.
He also was on the escort destroyer USS Damato during the Korean war. In 1947, he got hitched to Alyce Dorsey. Their marriage ended and he again got married to Julia Wright. In total, he had five children from both marriages.
Career
He started his acting profession on Broadway with the show “End as a Man”. In 1957, he featured in “Dark at the Top of the Stairs” and was nominated for a Tony award for it but did not win. A lot of his roles in television shows were of authority figures like judges. He has been in shows like “Carol for Another Christmas”, “When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder” and “Shaft”.
Death
In January 2009, he died of myelodysplasia, which had been bothering him for about a year.
