About Patrick Macnee
Though he was born in England, Patrick Macnee began his acting career in North America. He started with minor roles in films and television series in Canada and the United States. His breakthrough came in 1961 when he was cast in the television series titled “The Avengers” and its 1976 spin-off “The New Avengers” as John Steed.
His performance in the series opened doors for him to star in other popular on-screen works including “A View to a Kill” and “This Is Spinal Tap”.

He was raised by his British parents named Daniel Macnee and Dorothea Mabel Macnee. He had a younger brother called James.
He married Barbara Douglas in 1942 but divorced in 1956. His marriage to movie star, Katherine Woodville ended in 1969. Until 2007, he was married to Baba Majos de Nagyzsenye.
