About Paul Daniels
Paul Daniels was an award-winning English magician widely considered as "The Godfather of Magic". He developed a love for magic at the age of 11 and began performing at youth clubs and parties.
He made his first television appearance in 1970 on “Opportunity Knocks”. Daniels became a global icon nine years later after making his debut as the host of BBC1’s “The Paul Daniels Magic Show”. Other television shows that he appeared on included “The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club” and “The X Factor: Battle of the Stars”.
Personal Life
At birth, he was named Newton Edward Daniels. His parents were Nancy Lloyd and Handel Newton Daniels. He divorced Jacqueline Skipworth before tying the knot with television performer Debbie McGee in 1988. Daniels’ three children included television personality Martin Daniels.
Education
He attended Sir William Turners Grammar School.
Decorations
In 1982, the Academy of Magical Arts named him the "Magician of the Year", becoming the first non-American to grab that prize. Six years later, The Magic Circle honored him with its “The Maskelyne” award. At the 2011 Edinburgh International Magic Festival, he was celebrated with the "Great Lafayette Award".

He was a member of the Conservative Party.
