About Paul Signac
Paul Signac was a popular French painter. In 1886, he developed the Pointillism painting technique alongside Georges Seurat. He was also one of the creators of the group called the Société des Artistes Indépendants.
His numerous paintings such as “The Lagoon of Saint Mark, Venice” and “Blessing of the Tuna Fleet at Groix” earned him lots of admirers.
Over the years, his works have been exhibited at a number of art centers including Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Family
In 1892, he became the wife of Berthe Roblès.
Interesting facts
He was trained in architecture before later becoming a painter.
He completed many works with Vincent van Gogh.
Signac was also an author and published books like “La Gerbe” and “Dédié aux vrais Gourmands Et aux Francs Buveurs”.
He was influenced by Claude Monet.
