About Pedro Infante
Pedro Infante is remembered for his contributions to the Mexican film industry over a two-decade period within the first half of the 20th century. He first gained popularity in Mexico City as a ranchera singer before rising to prominence as a film actor. He was known for roles in films such as “Tizoc”, “La Vida No Vale Nada”, “Sobre las Olas”, “Dicen que soy mujerigo” and “Sobre las Olas”. As a singer, he did over 350 song recordings.
Family Life
He was the third of the fifteen children (nine of which survived) of Maria del Refugio Cruz Aranda and Delfino Infante Garcia. He was raised in Guamuchil, Sinaloa. He was the brother of actor Angel Infante. He was married to Maria Luisa Leon from 1937 to 1942 and to actress Irma Dorantes from 1953 until his death.
Achievements
He was honored posthumously with the Berlin International Film Festival’s Silver Bear Award.
Death
He died on April 15, 1957 from a plane crash.
