Family Life
He was born to Mexican singers Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre. He was raised alongside his siblings Antonio Aguilar Jr., Francisco Rubiales, Marcela Rubiales, and Dalia Ines. He has had children named Aneliz, Emiliano, Angela and Leonardo from his marriage to Aneliz Aguilar Alvarez.

Aguilar won the Best Ranchero Album award at the 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2014 Latin Grammy Awards.
