About Peter Bogdanovich
Peter Bogdanovich got his start in the filmmaking industry as a film writer whose film review articles were featured frequently in Esquire magazine in the 1960s. He launched his career as a film director in 1968, when director/producer Roger Corman gave him a chance by working with him on the films “Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women” and “Targets”. Three years later, he became a household name following the release of his multiple award-winning film, “The Last Picture”. He is also known for films such as “Paper Moon”, “What’s Up, Doc?” and “Mask”.
Family Life
His father, Borislav Bogdanovich was a painter from Serbia and his mother, Herma Robinson was an Austrian-born Jew. He was married to film producer Polly Platt from 1962 to 1971. He dated actress Cybill Shepherd and Playboy model Dorothy Stratten. He married the latter’s younger sister, Louise in 1988 and they divorced in 2001. He had two children.
Achievements
His accolades include a BAFTA Award and two New York Film Critics Circle Awards.
Death
Bogdanovich suffered from Parkinson's disease, which lead to his unfortunate demise. He died at home.
