Personal Life
Philip James Bailey attended East High School in Denver and continued at Metropolitan State University. Not long after, he got into the University of Colorado. During all this time, his love for music made him join the “Friends & Love” Band.
Career
Even though he already had experience with bands, he was invited to join the “Earth, Wind and Fire” band in 1972 by Maurice White who was the creator and leader of the band. He aided in the development of great tracks like “Keep Your Head to the Sky”, “Fantasy”, “Devotion” and “I’ve Had Enough”. Maurice later retired and handed the leadership over to Philip who handled it well. Later he decided to release his own tracks, in 1983, he released his first studio album titled “Continuation” which did great on billboard charts. The following year, he worked on his gospel album which he titled “The Wonders of His Love” and released “Chinese Wall” in the same year.
Trivia
In 1985, during the Grammy Awards, he received Best Gospel Performance nomination for the track “Triumph” and he won.
