Early Life
He got his inspiration from legends such as Zinedine Zidane and he started playing football at the age of five with his older brother. In 2003, he joined BK Skjold's junior team and eventually found his way to the German club Bayern Munich II reserve squad in 2012.
Career
Højbjerg made his senior debut in 2013, playing against 1. FC Nürnberg. As a part of the Bayern squad, he won the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup. Between 2015 and 2016, he was loaned out to FC Augsburg and Schalke 04. He successfully moved to the English League club Southampton in 2016 where he signed a £12.8 million contract.
With an impressive 109 appearances, Jose Mourinho recruited him to sign a £15 million deal with Tottenham Hotspur. In November 2022 he was lauded for scoring the winning goal in the 95th minute against Marseille.
