About Pierre Loti
The French navy officer and author wrote several foreign novels and short stories including “Fleurs d'ennui”, “Les Trois Dames de la Kasbah”, “Au Maroc” and “Madame Chrysanthème”.
Education
He enrolled in the naval school at age seventeen and was educated at the French military college, Le Borda.
Career
He wrote “Le mariage de Loti” (originally Rarahu) in 1880, his first work which will introduce him to the readership. He followed with a second book "Le Roman d'un spahi'' the next year, in which he narrates the sad adventures of a soldier in Senegal as well as “Pêcheur d'Islande”- An Iceland Fisherman in 1886.
He gained public attention in 1983 with his work “Mon Frère Yves “, a book detailing the life of a French naval officer named Pierre Loti and a Breton mariner Yves Kermadec.
