About Pierre Salinger
Salinger served in the United States navy during World War II. He was appointed by President John F. Kennedy as the 9th White House Press Secretary from January 1961 to March 1964. He also served as a Senator from California between August 1964 and December 1964.
He served as a legal aid to the Senate Select Committee probing organized crime. He also helped with President John Kennedy's presidential campaign in 1960 and became one of its principal personalities.
The politician also made some television appearances, including the portrayal of Lucky Pierre in the 1968 episode of the ABC Television series “Batman”. He worked as a commentator for ABC Sports’ coverage of the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria in 1976 and gave commentary on the 1989 Tour de France.

His parents were Herbert Salinger and Jehanne. He was married many times and divorced three times. His last marriage was to Nicole de Menthon in 1989.
Education
He was an alumnus of San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco.
Honors
He received a George Polk award in 1981.
Death
The politician suffered a heart failure and died on October 16, 2004 at age 79.
