About Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was a French philosopher, Jesuit priest, scientist, theologian, palaeontologist, geologist and teacher. He wrote many books on theology and philosophy including the popular “The Phenomenon of Man” and “The Divine Milieu”. He is also known for his development of the concepts of the Omega Point and the noosphere, the latter of which he worked on with Soviet mineralogist Vladimir Vernadsky. He was a member of the discovery team of the Peking Man.
Personal Life
He was the fourth of the eleven children born to Berthe-Adele and Emmanuel Teilhard de Chardin. He was a stretcher-bearer in World War I on behalf of the 8th Moroccan Rifles, a military force of the French colonial empire.
Death
He died from a heart attack on April 10, 1955.
