About Pierre Turgeon
Until his professional ice hockey career came to an end, Pierre Julien Turgeon was a superb passer and playmaker who produced exceptional results for all of the National Hockey League (NHL) teams he played for. He was named to five NHL All-Star games during his career.
Career
The Buffalo Sabers selected him first overall in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. In his first season, he helped the Sabers make the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in three years by scoring 42 points (14 goals, 28 assists) in the 1987–88 season.
He was traded to the New York Islanders in 1991 along with other athletes. In 1994–1995 he was traded once more, this time to the Montreal Canadiens. He spent a season with the St. Louis Blues before signing as a free agent with the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche.
He was hired as the Los Angeles Kings' offensive coordinator in 2017, but left his position a year later for personal reasons.
Personal Life
He has four kids with his wife Elizabeth.
Trivia
He and his younger brother Sylvain became the first brothers in NHL history to have been chosen as first and second picks in different drafts.
