Personal Life
He was born as Pietro Antonio Domenico Trapassi to Felice Trapassi and Francesca Galasti. His pen name was Pietro Metastasio.
Literary Works
The Italian poet was good at poem recitals while growing. One of his recitals caught the attention of an Italian jurist, Giovanni Vincenzo Gravina who then adopted Metastasio.
While he was with the jurist, he received training to also become a lawyer but Marianna Bulgarelli upon seeing his talent advised him to quit his law practice and pursue his talent. He paid heed to the lady’s advice and from there, he began to produce good poems and songs.
He began to enjoy considerable success when he moved to Vienna in 1730. He was associated with great composers such as Leonardo Vinci, Francesco Durante and Johann Adolph Hasse.
Interestingly, most of the poems he wrote were in the form of music.
Trivia
The Romanian poet enjoyed quite a fortune during his days on earth. Firstly, his patron, Gavina left him with a huge sum of money before he died. Also, he received considerable support from the Italian singer, Marianna Bulgarelli.
