About Pimp C
Pimp C was the stage name of Chad Lamont Butler, a rapper and record producer. He is known best for his work as half of the rap duo, Underground Kingz, which he founded with fellow rapper Bun B in 1987. The duo’s well-known singles include “International Players Anthem (I Choose You)” and “Pimpin’ Ain’t No Illusion”. They became famous in 2000 as featured artists on “Big Pimpin’” by Jay-Z. He went solo with the debut album “Sweet James Jones Stories” in 2005.
Family Life
He was the son of Weslyn Buttler Jacob Monroe and Charleston Butler. He tied the knot with Chinara in 2003, during his prison sentence. She is the mother of his third child. His first two are from previous relationships.
Prison Sentence
He spent almost three years in prison for violating his probation conditions after his “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon” charge in 2000.
Death
His death on December 4, 2020, was ruled as accidental occurrence, which resulted from him drinking the recreational drug beverage commonly referred to as “Lean” or “purple drank”.
