Piper Laurie is the professional alias of American actress Rosetta Jacobs. With a career spanning 7 decades, she started acting under a contract with Universal Studios in 1950, left Hollywood to study acting and took to stage acting in the late 1950s. She returned to the film industry in the 1960s and went on to make a bigger name for herself through roles in “The Hustler”, “Children of a Lesser God” and “Carrie”.

She was raised alongside an elder sister, Laurie in Detroit and then later in Los Angeles by her parents Charlotte and Alfred Jacobs.

She won a Golden Globe Award for her role as Catherine Martell in the television series, “Twin Peaks”.
