About Plastic Bertrand
Roger Francois Jouret, affectionately called Plastic Bertrand, is one of the most phenomenal Belgian music stars. In addition, he has enjoyed success as a television host, producer, and editor. However, he is best known for his 1977 hit song “Ça plane pour Moi.”
Background & Early Life
He is of French and Ukrainian descent. However, he was born in Brussels, Belgium. By age nine, he had mastered singing and learned the drums. In addition, he studied music history, percussion, music theory, and design at the Music Academy, Brussels’ “Royal Conservatory of Music,” and the “Saint-Luc Institute.”
Music Career
In 1974, he formed the punk movement band “Hubble Bubble.” He subsequently released two albums with the band, but the group was sadly disbanded in 1978.
His music career shot to international fame with the release of his 1978 single “‘Ça Plane Pour Moi.” The song peaked in the top 50 songs of various European music charts. He also recorded various hit new wave albums in the 1970s, including “‘J’te Fais Un Plan” and “An 1.” His other hit records include “King of the Divan” and a cover of “Sha-La-La-La Lee.”
Controversies
During a court case in 2010, it was alleged that he did not sing any part in “Ça plane pour Moi.” He initially disputed the claims but eventually admitted to them.
