About Pope Clement X
Pope Clement X became the oldest person to be named as the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church in 1670 at the age of 79 years. Before taking over the papacy, Clement X served as the Bishop of Camerino, and the governor of Umbria and Loreto.
Between 1667 and 1667, he was named as the Superintendent of the Papal Exchequer. During his reign as the Pope of the Church, he helped to maintain peace in Europe.
Family
His original name was Emilio Bonaventura Altieri and was the son of Victoria Delfin and Lorenzo Altieri. He had two siblings named Flaminio Delfin and Giambattista Altieri.
Education
In 1611, he graduated from Roman College.
Trivia
He canonized Saint Francis Borgia and beatified Francis Solano.
He worked under Pope Urban VIII, and Pope Clement IX.
