Background
Born in Portugal to Angolan parents, Leão joined the Portuguese club Amora in 2006 as a junior. He moved on in 2008 to the Sporting CP youth team and was there until 2017 when he moved to the senior team.
Career
This Portuguese player made the big jump to the French club Lille Olympique Sporting Club in 2018. However, his previous club Sporting CP disputed his contract, and the case was filed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The case was ruled against Leão and he was asked to pay Sporting CP €16.5 million for breach of contract.
He made the transition to the Italian club AC Milan in 2019. Leão joined the Portugal national team in 2016 as part of the Under-17 squad. He was also part of the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 squad that took Portugal to the semi-finals and was named in October 2022 as part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup team for Portugal.
