Achievements
The remarkable golfer won sixteen PGA Tour-sanctioned tournaments, among these were the US Masters in 1939 after he placed second two years in a row. He also won the US Open between 1937 and 1938.

The pro golfer had a habit of announcing where he intended to place the ball before he hit it. He was constantly relaxed when he played the game.
He published a golf manual in 1940. It was reported that the golfing pro, as a result, became self-conscious about his swing and lost it.
