About Rand Paul
Rand Paul is a politician who was elected to the U.S. Senate in January 2011 under the ticket of the Republican Party representing Kentucky. He is an advocate for constitutional liberties and fiscal responsibility. In 2015, he announced his candidacy to run for the 2016 U.S. presidential election but suspended his campaign in February 2016.
Before entering into politics, he was a practicing ophthalmologist who owned his own ophthalmology practice. He participated in the 2010 U.S. Senate election in Kentucky and won the seat.
He is the third of five children born to Carol and former U.S. Representative Ron Paul of Texas. He married Kelley Paul in 1990 and fathered three children with her.
