About Randall Munroe
Until 2006, Randall Munroe worked as a roboticist and programmer for NASA. He was stationed at the organization’s Langley Research Center. When NASA decided not to renew his mandate, Munroe migrated to Boston to begin a new life. It was during this time that he started his popular webcomic titled “xkcd” which has brought him much fame.
Aside from that, he has also published a number of books with the most popular ones entitled “Thing Explainer”, “How To” and “What If?”.
Personal Life
He had the company of his two junior brothers during his childhood. He married his longtime girlfriend in 2011. His wife’s battle with breast cancer inspired his 2012 work titled "Emotion".
Education
He had his formal education at Chesterfield County Mathematics and Science High School at Clover Hill. He went on to study physics at Christopher Newport University and graduated in 2006.
Trivia
In 2013, the International Astronomical Union opted to name an asteroid after him. This became possible after a group of readers of his “xkcd” work suggested his name to the organization.
He mostly does kite photography during his leisure time.
