About Raphael Saadiq
Raphael Saadiq is an American singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. He rose to fame in the late 1980s as the lead vocalist and bassist of the soul/R&B group, Tony! Toni! Toné!, known for the hit single, “Ask of You”.
The group disbanded following the release of its fourth album, “House of Music”. He also performed as a member of Lucy Pearl, an R&B supergroup formed in 1999, before he would find success as a solo artist with albums such as “Jimmy Lee”, “Stone Rollin’” and “The Way I See It”.
As a producer, he has worked with John Legend, Whitney Houston, Erykah Badu and Stevie Wonder.
Family Life
He performed alongside his brother Wayne Wiggins in ‘Tony! Toni! Toné!’. He grew up with 12 other siblings. His birth name is Charles Ray Wiggins.
Achievements
He won a Grammy Award in 2003 for writing Erykah Badu’s “Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop)”. He also has one Academy Award and two Golden Globe nominations to his credit.
Trivia
He co-founded the video game development studio, IllFonic.
