About Rashi
Rashi, born Shlomo Yitzchaki, was a French rabbi whose works have been the center of many Jewish studies. He was known for his insightful commentaries on the Tanakh, also referred to as the Hebrew Bible.
His explanation of the Talmud has been included in every version of the texts since the 1520s. He also authored close to 300 responsa.
Family
His father was called Yitzhak, and was the nephew of Simeon bar Isaac who was also a rabbi. He gave birth to three daughters named Rachel, Yocheved, and Miriam.
