About Ratko Mladić
Ratko Mladić joined the then Yugoslav National Army in 1965 following his long affiliation with the political party known as League of Communists of Yugoslavia. By the end of the Bosnian war in 1995, Mladić had been selected as the Army of Republika Srpska’s Chief of the General Staff. He also made the headlines during the Yugoslav Wars between 1991 and 2001.
In 2017, the “International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY)” formerly accused him of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. He was sentenced to life imprisonment after the court found him guilty.

Education
He was trained at the KOV Military Academy.
Arrest
In 2011, a 24-member special police force was tasked to arrest the former military general. The team was accompanied by other security agencies like the Security Information Agency. Mladić was arrested at his home in Lazarevo on May 26.

Facts
Before joining the military, he worked for Tito Company as one of their whitesmiths.
He has also been accused for masterminding the Srebrenica genocide in 1995.

His daughter committed suicide in 1994.
