Ray was an English sports star who dominated the football field at a point in time and shared his talent with the world.
Personal Life
He was given the name Raymond Colin Wilkins at birth and was a member of a family of footballers. He had three brothers who all played football including his father so it was no wonder that he gravitated towards that profession. In 1978, he became the husband of Jackie and together, they gave birth to two children.
Career
In 1973, he became a part of the Chelsea team and played with them till 1979 when he joined Manchester United. He stayed with the team for some time and was chosen as the player of the year when he was about to leave the team. In 1984, he joined A.C. Milan. He moved on to play for Paris Saint-Germain then Rangers before playing for Queens Park Rangers. In 1994, he managed Queens Park Rangers and was an assistant coach for more teams till 2015.
Challenges
He was stopped from driving for some time after he had a DUI issue and eventually made it public that he was suffering from alcohol addiction.
Death
In 2018, he fell and went into cardiac arrest. He was put in an induced coma but passed away a few days later.
