Rebecca Sugar is a renowned American animator, screenwriter, singer, director and producer. She is popularly known as the creator of the animated series titled “Steven Universe” for Cartoon Network; her work made her the first woman to ever create a television series for Cartoon Network.
She has also worked as a writer for the fantasy animated television series known as “Adventure Time”.

Her brother named Steven Sugar is also a Graphic designer and worked as a designer for her series, “Steven Universe”. In December of 2019, she got married to fellow animator and voice actor, Ian Jones-Quartey.

Sugar gained a ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ nomination in the category for Short-format Animation in 2011 and 2013. She also gained a nomination for the Best Storyboarding in a Television Production at the ‘Annie Awards’ in 2012. Also in 2012, she was named by Forbes magazine amongst the “30 Under 30 in Entertainment”.
