He was a phenomenal American sportsman who played football for great teams and was also an actor.
Personal Life
When he was born, his family gave him the name Harold Edward Grange. Lyle, his father, worked as a foreman but at the age of five, his mother passed away. He didn’t come from a well to do family and accommodation was a problem they had to face. They had no choice than to move from one family to another until they were able to afford their own place. His father became chief of police in Wheaton. He met a flight attendant named Margaret on a plane and started a relationship with her and in 1941, he made her his wife.
Career
His football career started in 1925 when he became a player for the Chicago Bears. He however stayed with the team for about a season before he moved on to play for New York Yankees. His time with them started in 1926 to 1927. In 1929, the Chicago Bears got him to join their team for about five years. He also coached the Chicago Bears about a year after he played for them. He became their backfield coach.
Death
Not long after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, he passed away.
